Megan Harvison, LMSW

Megan Headshot 1Hi, I’m Megan.

I began my professional journey as an early childhood educator and knew I wanted to make a positive impact on the lives of others. After spending a few years teaching, I recognized my passion was more aligned with helping those struggling with their mental health. I wanted to advocate for families who needed support outside of just preschool environment. Ensuring basic needs are being met, recognizing the stressors many people face in their day-to-day lives and the impact of trauma was my calling. This is when I discovered I would follow the path to becoming a mental health therapist.

My training and experience have prepared me to help you.

Beginning with an Associates Degree in Human Services, I continued to recognize my strong call to support others and went on to receive my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Social Work from Salisbury University. Some areas of focus in my continuing education include trauma, nervous system regulation, anxiety disorders, and mindfulness.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient mental health, school settings, in the community, and in-patient hospitalizations. I have worked with people experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, emotional dysregulation, life stressors, low self-esteem, ADHD, and substance use. I also have a passion for working with the LGBTQIA community.

I want to ensure our connection is beneficial to you and your healing.

Sometimes, finding the right therapist and feeling comfortable opening up takes time – and that’s okay! My goal is to practice empathy, active listening, and a person-centered approach. Everyone is different and requires a unique therapeutic experience. I will work with you to identify your specific needs and tailor your treatment to meet them.

I place a huge emphasis on the mind-body connection. We will work together to help you better understand yourself so you are successful in your healing journey. You know yourself better than anyone else – I want to empower you to feel and see that.
