Hi, I’m Susan.
My Bachelor of Arts degree is from Gettysburg College, and my Master’s in Social Work is from Salisbury University. I have Certification in Level 1 trauma training from the Ferentz Institute, completed safe space training for the LGBTQ community and facilitated and developed an Intensive Outpatient treatment program for addictions.
As a Licensed Clinical Certified Social Worker, I provide personal psychotherapy to individuals, families, couples, and groups faced with challenges including but not limited to depression, anxiety, parenting, ADHD, behavioral issues, self-esteem, substance use and other addictions, grief and loss, relationship issues and life transitions.
My approach is strengths-based, and I have training in Dialectical Behavior therapy, which involves a cognitive approach using mindfulness, acceptance, change strategies, emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills. I also have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and Community Reinforcement and Family training for families with a loved one using substances.
My focus is on YOU and YOUR needs.
When it comes to treatment, I believe there is no one size fits all. There are many paths to recovery, depending on what is suitable for you.
My personalized style of therapy caters to your specific needs. I will use an approach that works for you depending on your specific goals.
We will work collaboratively to build upon your strengths and find solutions that work for you.
Transitions are challenging – I understand.
Life transitions can be difficult and require adjustments. I can attest to this because I am proof that we can reinvent ourselves to find more meaningful lives at home and work.
Whatever you are going through, I can help you navigate and maybe help change your perception.
Learning to be present to experience all the emotions of the human experience with all of its suffering and joy is part of life. I want to help you live your life with acceptance and grace.
Fun Facts About Me
I am a wife, mother of three young adults and soon-to-be grandmother. I know the stressors that can come from raising a family and trying to juggle everything we must do. In my spare time, I love spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling with my husband and riding my bicycle on the Eastern Shore.
