Olivia Calwell, LMSW

Olivia CalwellHi! I’m Olivia.

My professional journey began in the classroom, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Salisbury University and taught kindergarten and first grade. During those years, I saw firsthand the growing need for mental health support beginning in early childhood. I intentionally created space in my classroom for mindfulness and emotional regulation, helping little ones navigate their “big feelings.” A casual conversation with a school social worker ultimately shifted my path and inspired me to pursue a Master of Social Work through Liberty University’s MSW program.

Today, I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. I understand that each stage of development comes with unique challenges — whether it’s helping a child build emotional regulation skills, supporting a teen through identity development and peer stress, or walking alongside a young adult navigating life transitions, anxiety, or relationship concerns. My background in education allows me to bring both structure and creativity into sessions, while also partnering closely with parents and caregivers to support growth beyond the therapy room.

I am deeply empathetic and genuinely passionate about helping individuals through life’s challenges.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I offer deep support while also gently challenging patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment-based therapy, and trauma-informed care, always tailoring our work to your unique story and goals. Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you — it’s about helping you access the strengths and insight you already carry. I often think of our lives as stories, with events serving as chapters. Sometimes we need support to move through a chapter or to find peace with it.

Outside of work, you can find me spending time with my twin baby girls and husband. I’m a big family person and love being with those closest to me. I enjoy shopping, drinking coffee, and being at home — I appreciate the comfort of everyday routines more than adventurous travel. I’m also a huge animal lover with one dog, one cat, four goats, and the occasional stray kitty who wanders onto the porch. I love being outside in that “just right” weather, especially in the spring and fall. I danced for 15 years and now spend my evenings teaching the next generation the art of dance.
