Samantha Higginbotham, LGPC

Hi! I’m Samantha.

I believe in the importance of a balanced life and strive to equip you with practical tools you can use to help you heal. While therapy may seem daunting at first, it doesn’t have to be a lifelong commitment.

I truly admire the courage it takes to reflect on yourself and your circumstances, and I am dedicated to supporting you throughout this process.

My journey began in physics, where I spent two years exploring the universe’s mysteries. Ultimately, I realized my passion lay in helping individuals navigate their own challenges and find personal solutions. My background in physics nurtured my critical thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling me to approach situations with innovative, outside-the-box thinking.

I earned my B.A. degree in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Scranton and my M.A. degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, DC.

I have worked with traditional and non-traditional students, assisting with resume writing, career exploration, and job searches. I have worked with a team to model safe and healthy parenting skills to support family reunification. Most recently, I have collaborated with children, adolescents, and their families to build upon existing skills, enhancing strength, communication, and cohesiveness.

My sessions focus on you and your needs, using techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand and change your thoughts and behaviors.

I also include methods from other approaches that emphasize problem-solving and building on your strengths. I believe in meeting clients where they are and adapting my methods to suit your unique needs and goals. I take a hands-on approach and encourage clients to bring the assignment or task they are struggling with into session so we can collaboratively apply effective strategies.

I look forward to partnering with you as you grow and discover new possibilities.
