Vanessa Fogler, LGPC

Vanessa HeadshotHi! I’m Vanessa.

As a child, I remember frequently questioning the world around me. There were so many situations I saw that left me questioning “why?” This led me to pursuing a career in mental health. The more I studied the physiology of the brain and human interaction, the more fascinated I became. It all started to make sense.

I find richness in the fact that everyone is unique and our differences are what make the world go around.

Human interaction is not just people talking, it is a need for existence. People need interactions to find love and a sense of belonging. Without it there is pain and suffering.

Over the course of 9 years, I watched my fathers health slowly deteriorate due to his diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. He was a fighter and watching his fight showed me what life was all about; love, hope and a sense of belonging.

I am inspired to help others.

My job as a licensed professional counselor is to be your guide in helping you overcome life’s biggest challenges. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Towson University and then my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I am also a certified “Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts” (SYMBIS) Facilitator who helps couples considering marriage.

I am here for you.

I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, elderly adults, couples, groups and families. My passion is in working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, OCD, depression, mood
disorders, relationship issues, and grief.

I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-
Centered Therapy (PCT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help suit your individual needs. I also incorporate guided imagery, mindfulness meditation, and breathing techniques into our sessions to help improve your self- awareness and reduce the negative symptoms blocking your ability to be here in the present.

My partner and I have been together for 8 years.  We have two little boys, both named after their awesome grandfathers.  I inherited a “bonus son” along the way! My greatest joy is being a mother.

Other than that, I love being outside in nature, watching birds, listening to country music, going to the beach, and breathing.
